I know those words are hypocritical of what I do. I have time but I don't discipline my time as I should. Do I have an extra hour per day to do this? The simple answer is yes! Yes, I do. I just need to plan it out. Is it a waste of time? Absolutely not. I love writing and words stitched together can be so powerful. Words can rule. Literally.
When I take a class online to enhance my writing skills I stay focused and get the work done. I have written some of my best work in those classes. I have not shared all of it. I hope to one day. Right now I want to focus on writing and finishing my many manuscripts I have that are unfinished. Who knows maybe I will self publish them too.
Writing to me is like fine art and photography. It is relaxing and I feel in a trance when doing any of the three. I may not make any money from any of them but I do realize the satisfaction of taking a picture that has the best composition and light I could never have imagined, capturing in my painting an image that, well, someone can actually recognize what it is or writing a story and having it critiqued by my peers and they really, really, really like it.
So the making of a writer to me is find the time, enjoy what you do and don't put money before your craft. Life is short, just enjoy the time you have here. The best, of course, is yet to come.

Did this piece in a class I finished recently. It starts out with an assignment of a few starting words and then you write the story. Sometimes we all need a boost to get us started in our writing or at least a deadline to finish! Hope you enjoy this short piece. I have more - will post later.
Pat knew for a long time that a clairvoyant gift was a curse to some and a gift to others. Observing some of his peers he could see the mistakes that were made and had devastating results. Pete was one of them who knew better but he was set to save the world and use his gifts. He only created chaos and fear. Pat on the other hand used his gift for the good and kept secret the bad he would “see.”
As Pete’s voice became a high shrill over the group of clairvoyant members that had gathered for their monthly meeting, he prophesied, “the end is near!” Pat immediately jumped up from across the room and literally ran over to calm his childhood friend.
“Pete, we know what you are seeing but right now we need to keep calm and stick to the meeting agenda that is going on tonight,” he gently reminded him.
“It’s ok, just not tonight. We can discuss it over coffee tomorrow at my house in the morning, say 10:00 am? You’ll be there, right?”
“Yeah, sure, I guess as he slowly moved to sit down again and regain his composure. “Not sure what came over me but it seems like it is happening more and more.”
“I know my friend. You’ll be okay, he assured him. “Maybe we should go see Dr. Moore next week and find out if he can help you with the new procedure he is testing. He would like you to try it –“
“I don’t think I’m ready for it and I’m not sure or really clear as to why I need it”, he interrupted Pat as though he was longer remembering what just happened.
“Let’s talk about it tomorrow and I’ll invite Jack and he can explain it to you. You do remember Jack, Dr. Moore’s assistant?”
“Not really. I’ll be there anyway. Better get back to the meeting Pat. I don’t want to miss the Extra-sensory perception (ESP) coverage Joan is going to start covering in her presentation. See you tomorrow.”
Pat knew what Pete couldn’t remember. His dear friend and clairvoyant buddy had a head injury a few years back and would have random outburst and then not remember why. His gift only made things worse. Yes, it was a gift at one time but now a curse.
