The Harvest Is Full, and We Are Called

The Harvest Is Full, and We Are Called

Soft peach watercolor harvest field with a winding path and a woman walking toward the light

There is a quiet stirring in the heart when truth settles in—the kind that feels less like a command and more like a remembering. As Christians, we are not simply believers tucked away in private faith; we are ambassadors, sent with purpose, carrying something living, something eternal.

“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
— Matthew 9:37–38 (KJV)

The fields are not empty. They are full—ripe with hearts searching, aching, wondering. The world is not lacking people; it is lacking messengers willing to step forward in love and truth.

Why We Are Called

To be an ambassador for Christ is not about perfection—it is about willingness. An ambassador does not speak on their own authority, but on behalf of the One who sent them. We carry His message, His grace, His invitation.

The harvest being “plenteous” means there are people ready—more ready than we often realize. People quietly asking questions. People longing for peace. People standing at the edge of belief, waiting for someone to simply speak.

But the labourers are few—not because God has not called many, but because many hesitate.

How We Step Into the Harvest

Through everyday conversation
Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen across a table or in quiet conversation. Sharing what God has done in your life—simply and sincerely—can open hearts gently.

Out in the world
Kindness, patience, and steady peace are testimonies in themselves. The way you live often speaks before words ever do.

Through creativity and craft
Writing, art, and handmade work carry beauty—and beauty often opens the door to truth in a natural and unforced way.

Through digital spaces and AI
Even in modern spaces, the harvest is present. Encouragement, scripture, and thoughtful words can reach someone at just the right moment.

What It Means to Go

  • Speaking when prompted, even if your voice shakes
  • Listening with compassion before offering truth
  • Living in a way that reflects Christ quietly
  • Trusting that small seeds grow over time

A Gentle Urgency

There is tenderness in this calling, but also an urgency. The harvest is not waiting forever. Yet there is no pressure to perform—only an invitation to participate.

The fields are closer than we think—woven into daily life, friendships, and quiet moments. You don’t need to go far to find the harvest.

You only need to say yes.

A Whim to Write
On the art of starting again

I have a whim to write so write I will.
Can’t believe I am being this still.

I type and I type to no avail.
I can’t believe it, so I guess I will.

What says the key — can it really be
an a or a y? I really can’t say why.

I have a whim to write, so write I will.
When night time comes, I pick up my quill.

Some say I’m lazy and others say naught.
When I sit here and write, I’m not such a snot.

I love the sound of the keys that clank,
or the pen that strikes as I sit down to write.

Well here we go again, picking up where we left off —
not quite sure what to write, but at least it’s a start.

Good night my protagonist.
It was good to see you again.
I’ll finish your scene without you letting out a scream.

The days are long and the nights too short.
I’ll finish your story sometime in the morning.

With coffee brewed and in the mood,
I’ll pick up where we left off,
and again we will start.
