Global Signs Predicted by Jesus (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21)

Prophecies:

  • Wars and rumors of wars
  • Nations rising against nations
  • Famines, pestilences, earthquakes in diverse places
  • Rise of deception and false prophets
  • Growth of lawlessness and love growing cold
  • The gospel being preached worldwide

Modern connections:

  • Wars/conflicts: Ukraine-Russia war, Middle East tensions, global terrorism
  • Famines/natural disasters: increasing droughts, earthquakes, and floods (documented rise in frequency and severity)
  • Pandemics: COVID‑19 widely noted by theologians as fitting the “pestilence” description
  • Worldwide evangelism: The Bible has now been translated into over 3,700 languages, and global digital evangelism continues

🕍 2. The Rebirth of Israel (Ezekiel 36–37, Isaiah 11:11–12)

Prophecy:

  • Israel would return to its land after centuries of dispersion

Fulfillment noted by many:

  • In 1948, Israel became a nation again — seen by many Christians as a major prophetic milestone
  • Continued tensions and alliances surrounding Israel are often linked to passages in Ezekiel 38–39 (the “Gog and Magog” prophecy)

💰 3. Rise of a Global Economy and Mark System (Revelation 13)

Prophecy:

  • A system where no one can buy or sell without a “mark” or control mechanism tied to global authority

Modern parallels:

  • Growth of digital currencies, global banking systems, and biometric verification systems
  • Discussions around digital IDs and programmable central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) are often seen as precursors, though interpretations vary

⚖️ 4. Moral and Social “Falling Away” (2 Timothy 3:1–5, Romans 1)

Prophecy:

  • In the last days, people would be “lovers of self,” “without natural affection,” “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”

Modern trends:

  • Moral relativism, decline in religious faith in Western societies, and the redefinition of moral or ethical norms are often cited as evidence of this trend.

🕊️ 5. Increase in Knowledge and Travel (Daniel 12:4)

Prophecy:

  • “Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

Fulfillment signs:

  • Rapid technological progress, the internet, and AI (like the one helping me write this) fit this interpretation for many readers.

🌑 6. Alliance Against Israel (Ezekiel 38–39, Zechariah 12–14)

Prophecy:

  • A coalition from the north and other nations will come against Israel before God’s intervention

Recent observations:

  • Alliance shifts in the Middle East (Iran-Russia ties, geopolitical coalitions) are often viewed as precursors.

🌸 7. Global Evangelism and Revival (Matthew 24:14)

Prophecy:

  • “The gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

Modern evidence:

  • Massive spread of Christianity through the internet, satellite broadcasting, and translation efforts into indigenous languages.

⚠️ Key Note

Interpretations differ:

  • Some see these as already being fulfilled (“preterist” or “partial futurist” views),
  • Others expect future literal fulfillments (futurist/dispensational views),
  • Some see them as symbolic patterns recurring throughout history (historicist/idealist views).

The Thread of Promise: Old Testament Prophecies and Their Fulfillment

Jesus Christ is born

🌿 The Thread of Promise — Prophecies of the Old Testament and Their Fulfillment

From earth to ink… the promises of God weave through time like golden threads — stretching from the Old Testament's earliest words to the light of fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

✨ The Seed of Hope

Long before Bethlehem’s star rose, the story of redemption was whispered through Scripture.
The Old Testament and the Prophets told of One who would come to restore, redeem, and reign in peace.

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
— Genesis 3:15

Fulfillment: Centuries later, the promise became life — Galatians 4:4–5 and 1 John 3:8 show it in Christ’s victory over sin and death.

🌸 Born of a Virgin

“The Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel.”
— Isaiah 7:14

Fulfillment:Matthew 1:22–23 declares this promise realized — Immanuel, God with us.

🌻 From Bethlehem

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrata, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel.”
— Micah 5:2

Fulfillment:Luke 2:4–7 unfolds the quiet wonder — the ruler born in humble straw, Love wrapped in living light.

🌿 The Suffering Servant

“He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him.”
— Isaiah 53:5

Fulfillment: Calvary gave these words form — John 19:34, 1 Peter 2:24 — mercy poured out through sacrifice.

🌾 The Triumphal Entry

“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey.”
— Zechariah 9:9

Fulfillment:Matthew 21:4–9 records the moment — palms and praise mark the King’s arrival.

🌺 Betrayed for Thirty Pieces of Silver

“So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.”
— Zechariah 11:12–13

Fulfillment:Matthew 26:15–16 reveals the prophecy in Judas’s hand — an ancient sorrow woven into redemption’s plan.

🌅 Resurrection on the Third Day

“You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.”
— Psalm 16:10

Fulfillment:Luke 24:6–7 rings with victory — “He is not here; He is risen.”
The music of prophecy becomes the song of life.

🌼 The Thread Continues

From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture sings one melody: Promise. Patience. Fulfillment.
The same voice that spoke light into being whispers grace into every heart.
What was foretold is now fulfilled — and still it blooms anew in us each day.

A Whim to Write
On the art of starting again

I have a whim to write so write I will.
Can’t believe I am being this still.

I type and I type to no avail.
I can’t believe it, so I guess I will.

What says the key — can it really be
an a or a y? I really can’t say why.

I have a whim to write, so write I will.
When night time comes, I pick up my quill.

Some say I’m lazy and others say naught.
When I sit here and write, I’m not such a snot.

I love the sound of the keys that clank,
or the pen that strikes as I sit down to write.

Well here we go again, picking up where we left off —
not quite sure what to write, but at least it’s a start.

Good night my protagonist.
It was good to see you again.
I’ll finish your scene without you letting out a scream.

The days are long and the nights too short.
I’ll finish your story sometime in the morning.

With coffee brewed and in the mood,
I’ll pick up where we left off,
and again we will start.
